β€œTo plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.”

Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993)

How it works

  • 1) Initial consultation

At our initial meeting, I will come to your garden to discuss your ideas and what you are hoping to achieve. Following this first meeting, which will be free of charge, I will provide an estimate of my costs and confirm the scope of work to be carried out.

  • 2) Survey

Once we have agreed on the brief, I will return to carry out a site survey, taking measurements and notes to enable me to draw up a site plan. Larger plots may require a professional survey.

  • 3) Development sketches & concept plan

The design process will begin with the sketching out of different layout ideas, before producing a concept plan for you so that revisions and refinements can easily be made prior to the production of technical drawings.

  • 4) Technical drawings

I will produce scale technical drawings at A3 size, which may include a master plan and planting plan(s) depending on the brief. At this stage I will also produce mood boards to illustrate hard landscaping, outdoor accessories and plants, along with a planting specification to form the basis of a plant order.

  • 5) Choosing a contractor

For projects involving landscaping work, I can assist with the tendering process for contractors, using my contacts with local landscaping firms.

  • 6) Building and planting

The chosen contractors will carry out any groundworks, hard landscaping and soil improvement using the plans I have supplied. The last stage is for me to order plants from a local or specialist trade nursery and arrange for delivery to site, after which I will normally carry out the planting myself.
